Why We Rescue Feature:

Last October I came across an image of this beautiful Coonhound dressed up as a ghost.  I was mesmerized by the image, and immediately Googled the photographer (Theron) to find out more about him.  That took me to a website called Maddie on Things, and there were tons of beautiful images of this sweet dog named Maddie literally on things!!  As a self proclaimed extreme dog lover, I was in HEAVEN!!  I went to Facebook and Instagram and started following Theron and Maddie, and have been following them ever since.  Every day I’m delighted by Theron’s creativity and Maddie’s ability to balance.

Theron started a new Project called Why We Rescue that focuses on stories of rescued dogs.  I submitted our dogs’ story awhile back in hopes of telling Bobo and Socky Poo’s rescue adventure.  And . . . yesterday, one of my dreams came true when I got to meet Theron and Maddie.  Theron was so nice and Maddie is such a great girl.  From looking at their pics together, it’s pretty obvious that they have a very tight bond, but getting to witness it first hand is so beautiful.  You can tell that there is so much love between the two of them, and it was such an honor to get to see that in person.

Here are some pics that I took while they were at our home.  Don’t mind the disarray, we’re in the middle of packing to move across the country tomorrow.  hahahaha :)

Our Day with Theron and Maddie!

Moving, Spring Break, & Boredom:

It’s Spring break here and what are we doing??? Packing to move across the country.  We are all very excited about the move, but packing and home repairs don’t make for a very fun Spring break (as far as the kids are concerned).  ;)

Most of the toys are packed up now, and the movies and video games got packed a few days ago.  So . . . we’ve had to resort to (GASP) using our imagination!!!  There’s been lots of drawing, painting, and now we are onto fort building.  They are pretty new at this, but they love trying new ways to see what works best.

Here are a few pics from when I invaded his fortress the other day.

Featured in The Bark:

I’m so honored to have an image of one of our beloved foster puppies (Carlisle) featured in The Bark.  Here’s a pic of his big debut!!  If you live in the Birmingham area, and you want to help animals, please consider fostering or adopting!  The Greater Birmingham Humane Society is a wonderful place with wonderful people!

Fun Science Project for Kids:

Anyone that knows my son, knows that he’s a problem solver.  He has always excelled at puzzles and he loves to solve a good mystery.  He dreams of one day being a scientist, so that he can create antidotes (his words exactly).  For Christmas, we decided to get him some Science kits.  One of the ones we purchased was the Magic Science kit.   When he opened it, his eyes lit up, the kit comes with everything you need (including: test tubes, magic wand, magic hat, and all the things you need to create the potions.  Here are some pics from his experiments:

Awe, poor daddy got turned into a lizard!!!!  Don’t fret, Jackson changed him back!

Writing Activity for Kids:

I had noticed that my son was having some trouble in school with writing and sentence structure.  I wanted to come up with a fun way that he could practice writing each day, that wouldn’t seem like homework.  I bought him a composition notebook and told him it was his own personal journal.  Each day when he gets home from school, we sit down and he tells me his favorite thing that happened that day.  I help him come up with a sentence and he writes it in his journal.  It’s a great way for him to practice, and it will be a sentimental keepsake for me down the road.

Snow is in the air:

It didn’t snow at all last Winter, so my kids have been hoping and praying that we would be graced with a Winter wonderland this season.  When they heard that snow was in the forecast, they could hardly stand the wait.  They were anxiously awaiting those beautiful white flurries.  They had started planning all the things they were going to do like catch flakes on their tongues, have a snowball fight, and build a snowman.  Here are some pics from our slushy fun!

Avery got home before Jackson, so I took her out to play, and when Jackson got home, we went out again to build our snowman.  It’s funny how the pics above (that were taken around 1:30pm) look like they were taken on a different day than the ones below (taken at 4pm).  The sky went from gloomy gray to baby blue with wispy clouds.  I must admit, it was a welcome change, I’m so sick of rain!!  I’ve been longing for some sunny weather!!!
